John P. Sullivan, 97, of Bremerton, WA passed away peacefully at his home on July 22. Born in Butte, MT to Daniel and Elizabeth Sullivan, his enlistment in the Navy brought him to Bremerton where he met and married Catherine, the love of his life. They established their home and raised their family where he lived the remainder of his life. John worked for over forty years as a dairyman at Kitsap Dairy, which later became Darigold. In retirement, John found it rewarding to volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul and maintain his home of 69 years. John was guided by his faith and motivated by a genuine interest in people. He preferred to introduce himself as "A first generation Irish-American Catholic Democrat" which invariably initiated conversation, often resulting in friendship. All others usually appreciated his candor. John's opinions were derived from an abiding belief that the capable and privileged have an obligation for the welfare of the less capable and forgotten. "Be kind to the little ones," he often said. John is preceded in death by his wife Catherine, sons Neil and Eamon, brother Neil and sister Esther Moore of Butte. John is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Dan (Kathleen), Steve (Mary), Tim (Patti), Sean (Wendy) and daughters and sons-in-law: Catherine (Robert) Morrow, Noranne (Al) Olson, Naomi (Scott) McKay, eighteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and brother Dan Sullivan of Butte, MT. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Star of the Sea Catholic Church Friday, August 11 at 11:00 at 1513 6th St. Bremerton (Rosary at 10:30), followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Arrangements under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, Bremerton, WA.
